Key Terms Explained

Clear definitions of important concepts in integrative medicine — no jargon.

Hydrogen-Oxygen Therapy

Inhalation of a hydrogen-oxygen gas mixture. Hydrogen acts as a selective antioxidant, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation at the cellular level. Used for sleep breathing improvement, cellular repair, and chronic inflammation reduction.

Regenerative Medicine

Medical approaches that restore or replace damaged cells, organs, or tissues — including stem cell therapy, platelet-rich plasma, and other cellular therapies. FDA approved certain advanced cellular therapies (CAR-T) in 2017.

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT)

A procedure that restores healthy gut bacteria by transplanting stool from a healthy donor to a patient. Clinically proven for C. difficile infections and showing significant results for IBS, autism, Parkinson’s, and more.

NKT Cell Therapy

Natural Killer T cell therapy — a type of immunotherapy that uses specialized immune cells capable of recognizing and attacking both infected cells and tumor cells. Used in cancer treatment protocols by our alliance experts.

Gut-Brain Axis

The bidirectional communication network between the gastrointestinal tract and the brain. The gut contains hundreds of millions of neurons and controls emotions, immunity, metabolism, and digestion — independently of the brain.

Cryotherapy (Tumor)

The use of extreme cold to destroy tumor cells. Minimally invasive, with fewer side effects than surgery or radiation for many cancers. Prof. Kecheng Xu is a leading global expert — founder of the International Cryogenics Society.

Blood Stasis in TCM Cupping Therapy (Bloodletting Puncture)

Understanding the foundational principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine cupping therapy — from concept to clinical formation.

1. Concept of Blood Stasis

Any condition caused by unsmooth blood circulation, leading to stagnation in the meridians, organs, or other parts of the body, including extravasated blood accumulating internally, is referred to as blood stasis.

Blood stasis is both a pathological product formed during disease processes and a pathogenic factor that causes certain diseases.

2. Formation of Blood Stasis

  • Due to qi deficiency, qi stagnation, blood cold, or blood heat, resulting in unsmooth blood circulation and subsequent stasis.
  • Due to internal or external injuries, qi deficiency with failure to control blood, or reckless movement of blood due to blood heat, causing blood to leave the meridians and accumulate internally, thus forming blood stasis.
